The month-long event is a partnership between the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council, the City of Swan, Mundaring in Transition, Hills Sustainability Group and Earth Carers.

The Plastic Free July Pledge encourages residents to avoid all single-use plastic for a day, a week or all of July.

Residents can prepare for Plastic Free July with a workshop on Sunday at the Old Midland Courthouse.

Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council chief executive Peter Schneider said it was great to see so many groups coming together to achieve a better outcome for the environment.

“By working together, these groups are able to provide a diverse range of informative workshops and activities that will appeal to a range of people,” he said.

“It’s important to recognise that different approaches will work for different people and by collaborating we can ensure that everyone understands what they can do to reduce single-use plastic consumed every day.”

Plastic Free July – Let’s Get Ready workshop will be held on Sunday, June 26 from 9am to noon at Old Midland Courthouse.
