Telco service rapped

Almost 250 residents who live in the suburb ” often plagued by poor mobile phone reception ” complained to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) about telco company services in the year ended June 30, new statistics reveal.

That was among the most complaints from any suburban area in WA, beating out Mirrabooka with 234 complaints, Morley (214) and Baldivis (145.)

Just 106 complaints were received from the Perth city area.

The top three complaints reported by the Bellevue customers were mobile phone coverage, disputed bills and poor contract information.

Many complained of mobile phone calls dropping out, poor voice quality, intermittent internet coverage and dramatically slower internet speeds during peak periods.

Australia-wide there were more than 158,000 new complaints, with more than half of those from mobile phone users.

Network coverage remains the biggest cause of mobile phone complaints at 28.2 per cent.
