This is the first year the Shire has created categories for nominees.
There are six categories volunteers can be nominated for: community/other groups, environment/arts, school groups (including P&C volunteers), sporting groups and emergency services.
The sixth category is the Lifetime Contributor, recognising a volunteer who has continuously volunteered with any one or multiple organisations for many years.
Shire President Helen Dullard said it was a fantastic way to give recognition to local volunteers.
