Top award speaks volumes

Since the IB program started at Helena College three years ago, students have been using her online bibliography generator, which is to the Harvard style and developed a new IB collection with books that are more appropriate for the international baccalaureate program.

Mrs Murray also co-ordinates the IB program for students in years 9 and 10 at the school. If those roles are not enough, Mrs Murray is also studying a law degree part-time and recently completed her exams for this year.

She also has a young child.

‘I love my job and such is my commitment to it as soon as I finished my last exam I was looking for something else to do,’ she said.

‘I knew I had a lot of work from school to catch up on.’

Mrs Murray said she had noticed students in the IB program were more focused and motivated.

‘Especially with this year’s Year 12s, who have just finished. I have noticed they are much more independent.’
