JUDGES were again impressed with entries in the Swan Chamber of Commerce’s annual Hanson Swan Business Awards on October 9.
What stood out this year, they said, was that good, sound businesses were surviving.
“And some are thriving, in what is generally a flat economic climate, emphasising that the business community of Swan is alive and resilient,” the judges said.
“The Swan Business of the Year is decided between the winners of the various categories, and Upper Reach Winery met that criteria by winning two categories.
“The Swan Business Person of the Year is selected by the Chamber’s board of management, not the judging panel.
“Cycle Safe was given the Judges Innovation Award because it is unique in that it offers a fun, interactive in-school ‘no bikes required’ program specifically designed for teaching the foundations of cycling safely for kindergarten to Year 3 students.
“It has already reached more than 35,000 children, with initial measurements showing the program is having a major impact on bike safety habits.”
