BOOK worms are being warned Mundaring’s Albert Facey Memorial Library will be temporarily closed to undergo urgent repair works to the timber flooring.
The library will be closed to the public for a four-week period from Monday, April 8, reopening Monday, May 6 2019.
Manager libraries and community engagement, Shannon Foster, said measures would be taken to minimise inconvenience as much as possible.
“Mundaring Library is both an important facility and popular meeting place for our residents including parents and children, seniors and community groups,” Ms Foster said.
“These replacement works will ensure our library is once again fit for the enjoyment and safety of our community.
“We would like to thank our library members for their patience and understanding while these necessary works are undertaken.”
Ms Foster said standard borrowing conditions would be adjusted over the closure period.
All existing borrowed items that would ordinarily be due for return to the library during the closure period will have their loan period extended to when the library reopens.
The library’s afterhours return chute will be available intermittently over the closure period, with access dependent on the work being undertaken. As an alternative items can be returned to the Shire’s Administration building during office hours or returned to Boya Library
Between Friday, March 22 and Saturday, April 6 library members can borrow an extra 10 items per membership.
A pop-up library will be held at Wooroloo Hall on April 9 and 30 between 9.00am and 11.30am to provide library members an opportunity to return books and borrow additional items.
Boya Library will be open for business as usual during the whole closure period
Story Time, Baby Rhyme Time, and other regular events will be suspended over the closure period.
