Veteran Car Club of WA receives Lotterywest boost for Wattle Grove HQ

Lauren PedenHills Avon Valley Gazette

THE Veteran Car Club of WA has received a $190,000 boost for upgrades to its Wattle Grove headquarters through a Lotterywest grant.

Forrestfield MLA Stephen Price, who recently presented the cheque for the facility upgrades, said the club had met at the Hale Road headquarters since 1982 when it built its own clubrooms and spare parts shed.

The club held its inaugural meeting on December 3, 1958 and now has more than 1100 members.

It encourages the restoration, preservation, exhibition and use of all vehicles more than 25 years old, while providing a mentoring and training program where restoration and mechanical skills are shared, often with younger members.

The headquarters land is leased through the Shire of Kalamunda, however the club is pursuing direct vestment of the headquarters.

Mr Price congratulated the club on its grant success and said he looked forward to helping them with their pursuit.
