WA POETS John Kinsella and Tracy Ryan are preparing to launch half a life of work by Glen Phillips.

Phillips is one of the ‘Southern Cross’ poets, having been born in the region in 1936 and his poetry, essays and prose have been published in several languages.

The 50-year collection titled, In the Hollow of the Land 1968-2018, will be released on Saturday at the Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers’ Centre.

Professor Phillips is a patron of the centre in Greenmount and a founding member of the Peter Cowan Writers Centre in Joondalup.

He is the Director of the International Centre for Landscape and Language at Edith Cowan University and his interest in landscape features heavily in the collection.

The reader is taken on a lyrical journey from regional WA to a residency in Tuscany and finally on to China.

The event will include readings, book signings and refreshments reflecting the Italian, South West and Chinese influences of the collection.
