Sarah BrookesHills Avon Valley Gazette

KALAMUNDA Out of School Care (KOSC) in Walliston has achieved a rating exceeding the national quality standards for early childhood education and care.

Centre supervisor Rosemary Morland said they were assessed against a range of areas including educational programs, physical environment and relationships with children.

“KOSC is different because we promote children being outdoors, being active and having fun,” she said.

“We believe in children having choice about what they want to engage in while at the centre whether planned activities or spontaneous play.”

Mrs Morland said the community centre had been operating for 30 years and was managed by a parent committee.

“It has a family feel about it and hundreds of families have used KOSC through the years,” she said.

“I have some children who still visit and they are now 21 years old.”
