DOMENICO Sabatino is living la dolce vita – the sweet life – after winning eight silver medals in this year’s Perth Royal Show for his gourmet gelato.

His winning flavours were apple pie, berry temptation, passionfruit yoghurt, pavlova, salted caramel and honeycomb, fig strudel, hazelnut and vanilla.

The Italian chef known as Mimmo said it had been a dream come true.

“Winning these awards makes me feel proud of myself as I was able to achieve my dreams,” he said.

This is the second year Mimmo’s Gourmet Gelato has had success in the show, wowing judges with traditional family recipes that date back 60 years.

Mr Sabatino said he was very happy with his silver medals.

“Winning gold is not so important; it means I’ve hit the top… that’s it, but winning silver pushes me to work harder and reach new heights,” he said.

Mimmo’s Gourmet Gelato is made fresh to order straight from his own back yard in Helena Valley.
