GOVERNMENT Road in Wooroloo will stay closed in both directions while major crime officers investigate a fatal accident on the road this morning.

A 22-year-old female driver died after her car rolled and hit a tree.

The woman’s vehicle left Old Northam Road about 12.22am near the junction of Government Road travelling south.

Police investigators said the vehicle crossed to the wrong side of the road and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to roll and hit a tree.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services said three volunteer crews from Mundaring attended at 12.26am for about half-an-hour.

Witnesses who may have seen the vehicle before or after the crash can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The fatality takes WA road toll for the year to 128, with 82 on country roads and 46 in the metropolitan area.
