A CAVE-STYLE spa that looks straight out of the fictional town of Bedrock adds quirky appeal to this Perth Hills property.
The buyer who snaps up the Lesmurdie homestead, which is on the market at $869,000, can escape the winter chill in what the owners have affectionately dubbed the “Flintstone spa”, complete with features Fred and Wilma would envy.
“We couldn’t believe it when we first saw it,” one owner said.
“It has a waterfall, lights, jets and a sauna next to it.
“Everyone says ‘wow’ when they see it.”
The owners bought the 2275sq m property for their family three years ago, enticed by the relaxed Hills lifestyle and convenient location near schools.
They undertook extensive renovations to modernise the towering steel pole residence, demolishing walls, installing new floors and quality fixtures, and adding a new kitchen with stone benchtops and stainless steel appliances.
The result is a five-bedroom, two-bathroom family home with 450sq m of living space, including the huge wraparound verandahs that provide the perfect setting to admire the treetop views.
The floor plan includes a stunning open-plan main living zone on jarrah floors, study area and home theatre room, with soaring ceilings throughout.
Near the spa and sauna, a large alfresco entertaining area under a shade sail has a built-in barbecue.
Selling agent Ben Ciocca said the design and remodelling made the house a standout in the area.
“The construction is ideal for the terrain and the home is very open plan compared to others in the Hills, which tend to have more segregated living spaces,” he said.
“It is massive with five bedrooms that are nearly queen-size, so it’s especially suited to a family with teenagers who want their own big rooms. There’s also a studio that’s ideal as a kids’ hangout or a gym.
“For dad or the tradie, there’s a big workshop at the back, the spa makes it unique and with a really good vegetable garden, chook pen and a little vineyard, a family can be self-sufficient.
“Lesmurdie has really good schooling, whether it’s public or private, so it’s a great place for kids.”
Other features include split-system reverse-cycle airconditioning, wood-fired heater, large grassed area for kids to play and parking space for six vehicles.
