AFL 9s kicks off at Ashfield Reserve

AFL 9s, which involves nine players a side on a smaller field, kicked off in the district this week.

Co-ordinator and Swan Districts community development officer Christian Tufilli said it was a first for Ashfield Reserve.

“Obviously it’s a big football area but haven’t really got AFL9s there – there’s a couple in Ellenbrook,” he said.

“We thought that Ashfield would be good to target.”

He said it was hoped to attract as many players and teams as possible.

“It’s the best way to keep fit and a really good outing for those who participate,” he said.

With no tackling or bumping, the sport is suitable for people of any age or skill level.

There are male, female or mixed team options.
