Arun has drive to become cricket pro

The young cricketer has fallen in love with the bat and ball after playing for Queens Park Junior Cricket Club for the past two years.

The Wattle Grove resident, a budding all-rounder, said he wanted to model his batting on Australian great Mike Hussey.

‘Hussey was my favourite player and I hope to be able to play like him,’ he said.

Arun (10) said he hoped to hone his skills in a bid to one day realise his goal of being a professional cricketer.

‘I love the game’s intensity and it is so much fun to play,’ he said.

‘My dream is to play cricket at an international level when I am older.’

Arun is a nominee in the HBF Junior Sports Heroes competition for his enthusiasm and interest in his sport.

The competition is an initiative to profile young people from across Perth, who inspire others through their sporting achievement or participation in their chosen sport.
