Diaz has been involved with the association since he was 10, playing for the Sawyers Valley Basketball Club.

Twelve years later, he continues to play for Sawyers Valley each season, despite his WABL and SBL commitments at the Suns.

Association president Bob Little has not been surprised at Diaz’s success.

He remembered him as a talented boy he believed would have a successful basketball career.

Diaz has also been appointed head coach of the Suns’ Under-16, WABL division 2 boys team to be assisted by his father, Marc.

The Diaz duo are currently in pre-season training, have put together a strong team and are looking forward to the coming WABL season.

Suns men’s SBL coach Michael Clarke spoke very highly of Diaz.

“He is a first-class point guard,” he said.
