CYCLE race organiser CIC Events has announced two dates in September for the final run of a road challenge that caused traffic chaos across the eastern suburbs.
The UCI Gran Fondo Perth finals will take place on Thursday, September 1 and Father’s Day, Sunday September 4, according to the event website.
A resident contacted the Gazette to alert other locals to the race on Father’s Day, saying the event would inconvenience many families.
CIC Events makes no apology on its website for the traffic congestion and delays caused by the highly criticised Sunday qualifying race on March 13.
The event website congratulates the 1400 cyclists who competed in the world series, stating “the event had a massive turnout and we were thrilled to welcome riders from all over the world to our beautiful hometown.”
“We can’t wait for the Gran Fondo World Championships in September.”
