Hills rev up for top road race

WA’s premier four-day road racing event will feature up to 100 classic and modern cars competing over 30 special stages at various venues around Perth, including Kalamunda, Mundaring and Whiteman Park.

The event will kick off with a ceremonial race start and a display of the cars on Thursday at Forrest Place in the city.

The first special stage is at 9am at Whiteman Park on Friday, when the cars will race against the clock from Beechboro Road to Mussel Pool.

Then it will be off to Kalamunda for a run up the Zig Zag at 10.30am.

Starting at 12.30pm in Haynes Street, in the Kalamunda town centre, the cars will contest two special stages down Mundaring Weir Road to the Mundaring Weir Hotel. Then it will be back to Whiteman Park for a 2.30pm stage from the Mussel Pool to Beechboro Drive in Whiteman Park.

On Saturday, the Targa Rally will move to Toodyay for a 9am start at the racecourse.

Stirling Street will be closed to traffic and the cars will come and go in special stages from 10.50am.

Two stages in Bullsbrook from 3.15pm will complete the action-packed day.

On Sunday, there will be a special stage in Malaga before the rally winds up with a Grand Finale Super Special Stage on Riverside Drive, in the city, at 1pm on Sunday.
