MT Helena Football Club might have won just two Hills Football Association games in 2015 but a rare opportunity for tutelage from AFL coaches could put them in good stead next season.
Club representatives Matthew Elwood and Michael Hine won a coaching and marketing seminar with Hawthorn premiership coach Alastair Clarkson, Western Bulldogs’s Luke Beveridge and Richmond’s Damien Hardwick last month.
The Lions were selected as one of three WA winners for the program in honour of the benefits the club had provided the local community.
Program ambassador and football personality Danny Frawley labelled local clubs “the backbone of the community”.
“Giving them access to expert AFL coaching advice, as well as some best practices for how to grow their clubs off the field, they will be placed to further grow,” he said.
