TWO Mazenod College students will compete in the Australian National Canoe Kayak Slalom Carnival which kicks off tomorrow.

It comes after Alex Nevin and George Pankhurst performed well at the Australian Canoe Slalom National Championships held in Eildon, Victoria last month.

The three day event involved competition in C1, C2 and K1 classes.

Two-time Olympic medallist Jess Fox was in competition, alongside other big names on the national slalom circuit.

Nevin from Kalamunda and Pankhurst from Sawyers Valley are currently training with the WA state squad in Penrith, New South Wales, ahead of the national carnival.

“It is a great opportunity to show what we can do and it’s going to be really good”, Pankhurst said.

The Australian National Canoe Kayak Slalom Carnival takes place between February 16 and 18.
