Justin BianchiniHills Avon Valley Gazette

MIDLAND-Guildford face a massive run chase this Saturday, after Perth dominated day one of their round five Premier Cricket match at Fletcher Park.

Despite a four-wicket haul from Will Riley, the Monkey Towners battled as Perth posted 7-342 declared from 74 overs, led by WA hopeful Jonathan Wells.

Wells made 144 for the Demons, with Midland-Guildford getting through to stumps at 0-25 from 15 overs.

Young gun Hayden Cobley will be key and remains unbeaten on 18, while Sam Evans was gritty with an unbeaten six from 43 balls.

Midland-Guildford don’t have seasoned stars Tim Armstrong, Dominic Sibley and Stewart Walters to count on, so will hope for strong contributions from Keaton Critchell and ex-Perth wicketkeeper-batsman Christiaan Moir.

Riley was outstanding with the ball, taking 4-72, while Ashley Mucciarone was the other multiple wicket taker.
