Laura PondHills Avon Valley Gazette

WET weather, injuries and a red card hampered Forrestfield United’s efforts in its loss to Joondalup United on Saturday.

The home team lost 2-1 in the All Flags State League Division One match and sit at third on the ladder.

Scores were level at half time, following goals to Forrestfield’s Ben Rogers and Joondalup’s James Harmer but a second score to Joondalup at the 77th minute sealed the game.

Mitch Crocker was given a red card in the late stages of the first half.

Forrestfield coach Rod Banjac said wet weather and injuries played a part in the loss.

“It (the weather) definitely impacted a lot and certainly didn’t suit our free flowing style of play,” he said.

“We had a dislocated thumb, a dislocated finger, damaged knee, broken nose and a red card, so I think that’s what they call a tough day in the office.

“If there’s anything that really shone today it’s the guys at the back, they were really solid.”
