Justin BianchiniHills Avon Valley Gazette

THE Perth Scorchers’ opponents at Lilac Hill on Sunday have been penalised for a slow over rate.

Sydney Thunder were found to be 5.75 minutes behind the scheduled time to complete their 20 overs in the Women’s Big Bash League game.

Each player was fined $250 – which was reduced to $125 because there was no appeal – while Thunder captain Alex Blackwell received one strike.

A second strike for Blackwell for slow over rates will mean a one-match suspension.

The Thunder won the game after a last-ball run out before the Scorchers turned the tables on their Sydney opponents with victory the next day at the WACA Ground.

The Scorchers are back at Lilac Hill on January 21.
