PLAYERS from the Kalamunda and Districts Netball Association came within striking distance of netball’s ultimate prize: the Netball World Cup.
The trophy was on display at the opening ceremony of Netball WA’s Smarter than Smoking Association Championships on Saturday, May 30.
The stop-off is part of a tour covering 25,000km in four months, with more than 40,000 netballers expected to see the trophy up close.
As well as having their photograph taken with the trophy, the Kalamunda players met World Cup mascot Nettie.
Netball World Cup is at the Sydney Olympic Park from Friday, August 7 to 16 and the trophy tour is a celebration of the event.
The World Cup returns to Australian shores for the first time in 24 years and will feature 192 of the world’s best netballers.
