TWO local horse riders recently proved themselves among the best in the State.

Gooseberry Hill’s Steph Munro and Parkerville’s Tyla Schou both achieved wins at the State Dressage Championships at the State Equestrian Centre in Brigadoon on May 7 and 8.

Schou, with her horse Stan, was named champion young rider in the competitive novice category as well as winning the Benita Wilson Perpetual Trophy for earning the highest percentage score of all junior competitors.

Munro, on her steed Marbles, claimed reserve champion honours in the FEI medium tour category.

Both riders are members of the WA Dressage Young Rider Association based at Swan Fields in the State Equestrian Centre in Brigadoon.
