Battery World Joondalup sells candles to raise funds for Joondalup Women’s Health and Family Service

A WINTON Road business is selling battery-powered candles to raise funds for the Joondalup Womens Health and Family Service.

The not-for-profit organisation offers programs and services for medical, counselling, drug and alcohol support, domestic violence, mental health and other health services for women and their families.

Battery World businessman Jordan Daw has bought 1000 battery-powered candles which people can buy for a gold coin donation to help raise funds for the service.

“When we saw these candles were available we jumped at the opportunity to buy them, even though at the time we were not quite sure what we would do with them,” he said.

“They are great for children so there are no burns from hot wax and won’t blow out if it’s windy.

“They would be perfect for the ‘Carols in the Park’ at Heathridge on December 23.

“And if it means we can light the life of someone who is doing it tough this time of year, even better.”

Womens Health and Family Service acting chief executive Jenny Carter said it was rewarding to have businesses contribute to the community.

“Christmas can be a tough time of year for many people, especially those who have experienced tough times during the year, “ she said.

“Community support from local business helps us make a difference to people’s lives every day and especially so at Christmas.”
