CHOIRS4KIDS is starting a singing group in Joondalup,

The organisation runs community singing groups to encourage all children to sing and express themselves with their voices.

Sue Ross founded Choirs4kids in 2016 after more than 20 years as a primary school music teacher and seeing the need for all children to have access to singing from a young age.

“My own daughter (3) was singing all the time and I just knew I had to do something about it,” she said.

“In most schools, she wouldn’t have had access to singing until around age eight and for many this can be too late.

“Singing is something that is easily accessible for everyone as we are all born with a voice.

“I promote community, non-auditioned singing for all ages three to 80-plus.

“We don’t have to purchase this instrument, nor spend time setting it up or repairing it – as long as we are careful.”

Choirs4kids classes already run in Baldivis, Melville and Victoria Park, and it has taken about a year to find a suitable northern suburbs venue.

On Saturday, October 13, it will open at the SuperFreak Rehearsal Studios on Winton Road with Singing Joeys classes for three to six-year-olds from 9.30am to 10am, and Singing Roos for six to 12-year-olds from 10am to 11am.
