FOODBANK WA will receive a share of more than 40,000 kg of donated pet food to be delivered to disadvantaged pet owners and pets in need.

Pedigree’s national ‘Feed a dog in need’ campaign aims to raise $1 million worth of food.

It encourages Woolworths Rewards customers to buy any Pedigree product, with the two companies pledging to donate five times the value of the points in food to pet owners who are struggling to feed their animals.

The first phase of the campaign will see more than $270,000 of pet food distributed across WA – coordinated by PetRescue.

“Pets are family and for many people in Perth who are suffering a temporary hardship, a bag of donated dog food will really make a difference,” Foodbank WA’s Lavine Clough said.

“Many pet owners will often go without food themselves to feed their dog or cat and these donations will make a big difference in helping people to make ends meet for all of their family members.”

Foodbank WA will be distributing the pet food around Perth from the start of September.

Several remote SAFE (Saving Animals From Euthanasia) branches will also receive bulk donations, as well as the Salvation Army in Bunbury and Karratha.
