A JOONDALUP driving school will offer free learner driving training workshops in a bid to improve pass rates.

Indi Drive business manager Jazmin Wyatte said the school would run free theory training for learner drivers and their parents to attend on Saturdays starting July 20.

“Each training session will be open to 15 students and their parents or supervisors,” she said.

“The training will include information about the structure of the driving assessment, top reasons that candidates fail the assessment, road rules and changes to those rules overtime.”

It followed a recent report that the first time pass rate for driving tests at the Joondalup driver vehicle centre was 32 per cent, according to Department of Transport figures so far this financial year.

The monthly Saturday sessions will be at Joondalup Library, 102 Boas Avenue from 10am to noon on July 20, August 24, September 21, October 19, November 16 and December 14.
