Kindest cut of all for surgery centre

Mark DonaldsonJoondalup Times

Joondalup Private Hospital, in conjunction with WA GynaeScope, has been accredited as a leading institution for expert care in minimally invasive gynaecology.

WA GynaeScope mini-mally invasive surgery director Santanu Baruah said the centre of excellence program, which was followed by hospitals worldwide, fostered quality surgical improvement.

"Participation in the program has led our team to exceed clinical benchmarks and guidelines," he said.

Independent US-based assessors awarded the accreditation based on factors such as surgical experience, quality of technology and the availability of ongoing staff education.

Accreditation and education manager Teresa Leath said a "culture of excellence was evident in all levels" of the Joondalup-based team's program.

"Their achievement as the first Centre of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynaecology in Australia is well deserved," she said.

The program focuses on surgery through smaller incisions, which reduce trauma and risk of infection.
