CUSTOMERS can soon get their groceries at any time of day or night with Mullaloo IGA announcing it will open 24 hours from August 1.

General manager Michelle Kelly said the move was to “to keep up with the times”.

“It’s good for mums at night when the kids need something and they can just pop in,” she said.

“Also for shift workers who come back in the middle of the night: now they don’t have to go into the city and can go somewhere more suburban.”

She said items like ready-made meals being available at all times would also be a benefit.

Ms Kelly said it would also offer more jobs and more hours for current employees, with the liquor store to also extend trading to 10pm and a security guard to be employed every night.

She said Mullaloo’s sister store in Quinns Rocks became 24-hours on March 1 and it had not had any problems.

“It’s been very successful and the community has been very supportive,” she said.

“It’s tough times out there for all stores so we thought we had to give it a go.”

Darch IGA also operates 24 hours a day.
