NATURE play has been enhanced following an upgrade of MercyCare’s Heathridge Early Learning Centre.

The revamp included a herb garden, logs and tree stumps for balancing, a climbing frame and new sandpit.

“There are plenty of spaces to encourage imagination and no end to the possibilities for play for children aged from babies to five years,” centre director Fiona Cousins said.

“This also helps to build children’s hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.

“Contact with nature has also been associated with a number of health benefits for children, such as improved cognitive function, increased creativity and improved interaction with adults.”

Heathridge Early Learning Centre is open Mondays to Fridays from 7am until 6pm.
