WESTERN Australia’s biggest toy store is set to open in Joondalup this weekend.

Toymate will open its second Perth shop in the former Toys’R’Us building on Winton Road on May 11, with another based in Cannington.

The refurbished 200sq m store will have a designated parents room, a play area with trampolines, ball pits and a cinema room.

It has hired up to 20 former staff of the previous business, which closed last year, promoting casual staff to second-in-charge and manager positions.

To celebrate, the store will throw a two-day grand opening extravaganza at 151 Winton Road, Joondalup from 9am on May 11 and 12.

Free events will include a Mother’s Day Crayola craft activity zone, face-painting, balloon art, live kids entertainer, music, disco party and opportunities to meet Disney characters.

Founder and chief executive Danny Bloom said the Joondalup site was one of the biggest achievements for Toymate yet and he had been overwhelmed by the support of Western Australians.

“We cannot wait to open another store in WA and want to celebrate with the community by throwing a huge launch with giveaways and family fun that is open to the public,” he said.

“We are an experienced based store focusing on providing a magical shopping experience that not only encompasses an exceptional toy offering, but a colourful world for children to lose themselves in.

“The Joondalup store has been designed for families and children to shop, play and enjoy our in-store events and activities.”
