EVERYDAY heroes from the local community will be awarded through a new recognition and grants program.
Westfield Local Heroes aims to discover and celebrate local people and organisations whose work benefits the area.
Nominated and voted for by the local community, three heroes from each centre will be awarded $10,000 apiece for their affiliated organisations to help continue their good work or kick-start a new initiative.
Westfield Whitford City and Innaloo shopping centres want nominees who promote social wellbeing and harmony across the areas of family support such as senior programs and domestic and family violence prevention, creating opportunities for youth such as improved education, anti-bullying programs and encouraging positive behaviour and social inclusion or celebrating inclusion and diversity such as gender equality, mental health support and increasing cultural celebrations.
“Westfield Local Heroes is about finding and celebrating those important people who go above and beyond to help make their community a better place,” Whitford City centre manager Maeve Foley said.
Nominations close May 16 with six local finalists to be announced for a final round of public voting from June 18 to July 1.
Winners will be announced on August 13.
