Whitford City: voting now open for six finalists in Westfield Local Heroes

SIX local everyday heroes have been nominated for a new community recognition and grants program.

Westfield Local Heroes awards $10,000 apiece to three heroes from each centre.

The finalists for Westfield Whitford City are Neil Atkinson from Ocean Heroes (surfing for autism help), A Stitch in Time founder Greg Hire, who targets at-risk youth through basketball, Vincent Pettinicchio from the Rotary Club of Hillarys (comfort packs for the homeless), Melissa Porteus from Youth Futures WA for her program that aids mothers who are already experiencing or at-risk of homelessness, Grandparents Rearing Grandchildren vice-president Jan Standen and founder of anti-bullying organisation Kidzucate, Sian Williams.

Public voting is open until July 1 at www.westfield.com.au/whitfordcity.

Winners will be announced on August 13.
