HILLARYS restaurant California Pizza Kitchen will temporarily close its doors to “change things up” – less than two years after it opened.

The American pizza and pasta franchise will be taking a break from Monday, July 23 for renovations and expects to open again in late August.

California Pizza Kitchen opened at Hillarys Boat Harbour in September 2016, replacing the iconic Jetty’s Restaurant.

It was the first in Australia and with 300 restaurants in 16 countries, it was also the largest in the world with 105 staff and a 370-seat capacity.

Director Hannah Peard said they were “excited to rejuvenate the space” to create a “more lively atmosphere” with “more customer-focused areas and a more effective flow of service for our staff”.

She said a highlight of the re-launch would be the bar area with “more big screens for the footy fans” and a new kitchen.

After the re-opening, customers can expect new specials including an after school kids club and seniors lunches, as well as live entertainment and special events.
