JOONDALUP resident Mikaela Armstrong (21) will compete in the Australian Supermodel of the Year competition this summer.
The model grew up in Kingsley and has been a lifeguard at the Craigie Leisure centre for the past few years.
“My interests are volleyball, both beach and indoor, and I have represented WA numerous times since I was 13,” she said.
“Modelling is my other passion and I have been working part-time in the fashion industry since I was four.”
Miss Armstrong said saving the oceans was a cause close to her heart.
“I often spend time on the weekend picking up rubbish along the coastline and raising awareness through social media,” she said.
“If I make it to the grand final in Bali of the Australian supermodel of the year competition, my hope is to spend some time with the locals raising awareness on the damage plastics are doing to the beaches of the world.”
