Visitors to the Joondalup Festival can catch the contemporary dance work, which claimed the overall Dance and Physical Theatre Award, on Sunday, March 20, at 1.15pm in the new festival venue The Gold Digger.

Performed by WA Academy of Performing Arts graduates Sarah Chaffey, Scott Elstermann and Ezgi Gungor, the show explores the challenges and variables in greeting people for the first time.

For example, that moment of not knowing whether to initiate a hug or handshake when meeting someone new, then struggling to maintain composure while fumbling between both gestures.

Joondalup Festival offers a range of free performances from local, national and international acts including dance, music, comedy, magic, fashion and children’s theatre.

This year’s theme is “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”, inspired by the popular Dr Seuss book of the same name.

It will run from 2pm to 10pm on Saturday, March 19, and from noon to 7pm on Sunday, March 20.

The earlier start time on day two and a 7pm fireworks display that evening are changes from previous years to appeal to families.
