GRADUATE and emerging designers had the honour of modelling their creations for New York fashion icon Patricia Field on Wednesday night.

The Sex and the City and The Devil Wears Prada costume designer was in Perth last week as the Urban Couture ambassador.

Now in its eighth year, Mayor Albert Jacob said the program brought “high-quality fashion to the northern region of Perth, showcasing Joondalup as a cultural, fashion-forward destination that nurtures emerging creative talent and supports creative industries.”

“Urban Couture is a very successful and recognised fashion program that is responsible for generating industry and media interest and providing artists, designers, models and photographers with priceless publicity,” he said before the graduate showcase at Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City.

“Each year the program engages with fashion and costume design students at ECU, WAAPA, Curtin University and both North and South Metropolitan TAFE.”

The program runs until March 26 and features fashion shows, exhibitions, workshops and artist talks.
