But he starts his memoir by getting “the really big news out of the way up front”.

“I have never dyed my hair. And it’s not a wig. Welcome to the world of television, with pockets of depth, rare brilliant insight but always the threat of superficiality,” he wrote.

O’Brien has been speaking to Australia for more than 50 years and will be at the West Perth Football Club function centre from 6pm on November 9 for a Meet the Author event from Dymocks Joondalup and the City of Joondalup.

Copies of his memoir will be available to buy and have signed on the night.

Cost is $6 with refreshments provided.
