Now The Honey B’s are singing to seniors groups around the city.

“I’ve always had a long-held wish to give something back to the older generation, specifically by way of creating a unique musical harmony singing group which would transport the minds of aged care residents back to happy days by letting them relive memories from yesteryear,” founder Mike Mascall, of Currambine, said.

“I placed an advert on Gumtree and these ladies believed in my idea and decided to be a part of my dream.”

The Honey B’s, comprising Padbury’s Kiri Ruffin, Sharelle Walker, of Kingsley, Bayswater resident Pippa Darrington and Katie McMahon, of South Guildford, was formed last July.

As a “The Andrews Sisters style harmony quartet”, they perform classic songs from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.

They rehearse each week and perform regularly at nursing and aged care homes, retirement villages, birthday parties and other private functions.

“It is such a joy for us to see our treasured older generation’s faces light up when we sing their favourite songs,” Mr Mascall said.
