A century on and still going strong

Mrs Carlisle marked the occasion with a lunch overlooking Trigg Beach with several friends, her four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

“It was wonderful, all my family from over east came over,” she said.

“I got lots of cards and flowers and a lovely decorated cake; it was all very nice.”

She said she had not given much thought to becoming a centenarian.

“I don’t know where the years have gone, I just take it day by day,” she said.

Mrs Carlisle lives in a villa at Seacrest Retirement Village, where she still cooks her own meals, walks without an aid and enjoys gardening.
