THE Duncraig Edible Garden celebrated its first anniversary a few days early, with a crowd attending its fortnightly gathering on September 4.

Located outside Duncraig Library, the garden sprouted from a featureless space when a few people decided to create a place where people could come together to grow and share produce.

Joondalup Mayor Troy Pickard and several councillors joined the fortnightly gathering to see how successful the venture has become.

Mr Pickard opened proceedings with a congratulatory speech then Charles Otway from Terra Perma Design held a workshop, about natural pest control.

Attendees brought home-grown produce and homemade food to share.

Duncraig Library has supported the garden by hosting displays and keeping up with the increased demand for garden related books.

Find ‘Duncraig Edible Garden’ on Facebook for information on future events, resources, tips and inspiration.

The next workshop day is on October 17 when Marissa Verma from Bindi Bindi Dreaming will talk about bush tucker. For more information, email hb4sb@yahoo.com.au.
