FOUR friends learnt a few battle tactics before heading to Sydney for the filming of a television show.
Duncan Mitchell said his son Harry (10) won a place in the Nerf war competition for the Disney XD channel.
He recruited three of his Connolly Primary School classmates – Ollie McDonald (10), Jack Hughes (10) and Ashley Kendrick (10) – for the show, which will air from late September.
“The prize was the four boys plus guardian were flown to Sydney for the weekend where they would compete in a Nerf competition against seven other teams from all over Australia,” Mr Mitchell said.
“Their team name was ‘The Underdogs’ and they competed over two days while being filmed.
“Before they left, we arranged for some practice sessions and Jack’s father, who is a WA policeman, took them for some tactical training.”
“The tactics they learned was ‘fast is slow, slow is deadly’, which means you can never be too careful and slow is sometimes better than rushing in.”Mr Mitchell said the boys also learnt to move and cover their mates, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
