Big Bethanie Bake Off: Joshua is bake-off champ

The competition is held annually in an attempt to help close the intergenerational gap.

The November 9 competition had four student and four Bethanie finalists.

Joshua made Oma’s Pancakes Two Ways with his grandmother Marie-Louise Pilansky, which included a traditional pancake soup.

WA chef Don Hancey hosted the event alongside judges Patrick O’Brien and Bethanie chief executive Chris How.

“After taking a fair number of spot prizes from the crowd in the lead-up to his heat, Joshua blew the judging panel away with his Oma’s pancakes done two ways,” Mr How said.

Marjorie Ugle from the Bethanie Maali Social Centre won the best senior award for kangaroo patties while Orana Catholic primary’s Mikayla Richardson won the best kid award for Melanzane Con Salsa.
