THERE has been a bit of stink at Joondalup Police Station, which had to be evacuated for a blocked toilet.

According to the WA Police Media section, the station had to be evacuated because of cleaning chemicals earlier today.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) spokeswoman received a call for help to ventilate the building about 11.10am on February 28.

“It seemed a smoke alarm had been activated by some fumes,” a DFES spokeswoman said.

“The fumes were from a plumber who was using chemicals to unblock a urinal.

“We were assisting with ventilating the building.

“They tested the air – there’s nothing to be concerned about; there was a bit of an odour.”

The 24-hour police complex is open to the public again.
