Certificates honour students’ dunes work

Lauren PedenJoondalup Times

City of Joondalup natural areas officers and school liaison officer Judith Jacobs led the six-week course.

It included lessons on coastal environment biodiversity and gave students a chance to take part in an environmental project involving plant identification, dune rejuvenation and protection of their fragile coastline.

They were able to contribute to their community while developing a sense of environmental responsibility through active citizenship.

The students were presented with participation certificates by Joondalup councillor John Chester last Thursday.

The students are very proud that their class work is now being displayed at the Joondalup library and the recognition given for their efforts to restore local dunes.
