Tyler BrownJoondalup Times

THE cities of Joondalup and Wanneroo will hold their annual general meetings of electors next week.

Joondalup will hold its electors AGM on Tuesday, December 4.

It will start at 5.30pm in the council chamber at the Joondalup Civic Centre, before the council briefing scheduled for 6.30pm.

The agenda will include the presentation of the 2017-18 Annual Report, which the council unanimously accepted at last week’s council meeting, before residents can address the council and move motions.

At last year’s AGM, a resident asked if the City would consider holding future AGMs at 7pm because 5.30pm made it difficult to attend “given people are still working, or commuting from work or attending to family arrangements”.

Mayor Albert Jacob said the request would be considered for the 2018 meeting.

A council document stated the AGM had been held at 5.30pm before a council briefing in 2014 and 2016 and before a council meeting in 2013, 2015 and 2017, which had “resulted in an improved elector turnout compared to previous years”.

“For this reason, it is recommended the meeting continue to be held at 5.30pm immediately prior to the scheduled briefing session,” it said.

Wanneroo will hold its electors AGM from 6.30pm on Monday, December 3 at the civic centre on Dundebar Road.
