Tyler BrownJoondalup Times

A RED glow was visible throughout Joondalup on December 5 as part of International Volunteer Day celebrations.

Red gels were placed at the City of Joondalup’s entry statements and City logo opposite Hillarys Boat Harbour to remind people of the important role volunteers play in the community.

“About 17 per cent of Joondalup residents undertake volunteer work in a community group or organisation, which is above the Perth metropolitan average,” Mayor Troy Pickard said.

The City also posted profiles of various local volunteers on its website to show the diversity of volunteering roles in the community.

There are more than 350 organisations in the City that require volunteers, many of which use the Joondalup Volunteer Resource Centre – a partnership between Volunteering WA and the City.
