AN extension and refurbishment has been proposed for the clubrooms at Emerald Park in Edgewater.

This includes upgrades to the changerooms and toilets to allow them to be accessed internally, a new umpires’ changeroom and kitchen, and additional storage.

It also proposes to construct a park universal access toilet that will automatically open from 6am to 8pm daily as well as minor works to replace flooring and windows.

The clubrooms currently have a hall, kitchen, meeting room, playgroup room, toilets that can only be accessed externally, two changerooms and storage, and it is hired by four community groups and two sporting clubs.

“The current size, condition and layout of the toilets, changerooms and storage is considered inadequate to service the current and future needs of these groups as well as the needs of the wider community,” a City document said.

“The proposed refurbishment could accommodate a senior community level Aussies rules football club to be based at the clubrooms and the park in the winter months.

“It is expected the usage of the hall would increase as a result of a more functional layout and improved amenities.”

The City of Joondalup is seeking feedback on the proposal until April 5 at www.joondalup.wa.gov.au or contact 9400 4090 or info@joondalup.wa.gov.au for a hard copy.

The results will be presented to the council for its consideration.
