OCEAN Reef Senior High School student Lottie Deighton (15) has won the City of Joondalup’s 2016 Capture Nature photography competition with her image Life’s A Wave.
Held annually to celebrate World Environment Day (June 5), the competition encourages people between 12 and 18 to explore the City’s local environment and take pictures of natural beauty.
This year, there were 142 entries. These were narrowed down to 20 finalists.
Entrants had to be local residents or attend a local school and images had to be taken within the City and include a caption.
Lottie’s caption read: “There is nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shore, no matter how many times it is sent away.”
Awards were presented on Tuesday. Lottie won $300 for winning the competition.
Alta-1 College student Grace Hendry (17) was runner-up with her image Marmion Sunset, while Ocean Reef Senior High School’s Llewellyn Cunningham (17) was awarded third place, winning $150 for Low Tide.
Fourth place went to Greenwood College’s Nicholas Fantini (15) for Keep Cool, Have Fun!
